My wife, Gina, has
already placed her spin and story on this "Haole" relationship on the
website already . So now it is my turn to let you all know what it is like
to live on the "other" side of my lovely Asian/Hawaiian sweetheart. I was
born and raised in Ocean City New Jersey. That's about 20 miles to the south
of now famous Atlantic City (Trump town).
Ocean city is about 2 miles wide and 12 miles
long. We consider it an "Island" because we have 3 bridges that are the only
way to get to the city. It is a "dry" city (non alcohol served) due to a
hundred year law by our forefathers/mothers. So if you wanted booze, well,
you had to drive across the bridge to the other city to get it.
So I guess I already had something in common
with me living on an Island (Gina from Oahu). Well not really, just
kidding. I grew up living on Cheese steaks and pizza. And I mean that; this
is all I ate as a child. An occasional Burger or two. Tasty
kakes (yes with a K) were my favorite treats. NO FISH.
Now living by the ocean one would think I eat
fish. NO, not at all. My whole family did but not me. Come to
find out I was adopted at 6 days old. So maybe, just maybe there is an
answer out there somewhere as to my non-fish eating ha ha.
Now I like to fish, but felt really bad when
my dad carved them up to eat (felt bad for the minnow too). Crabs also. I
was traumatized as a child I guess. The summer time was a blast.
Nothing but Atlantic (dirty) Ocean from 7am to 5pm then the boardwalk until
10 or 11pm.
Somehow I made my way out to Arizona 20 some
odd years later and then I met my little 5 ft Island beauty. My
Asian/Hawaiian princess. I couldn't even remember any Asians when I
grew up in the city (small town). As a matter of fact, I really don't
remember seeing any in New Jersey at all (unless they were tourists).
Sheltered life man.
Anyways, when Gina and I first met she had
what Hawaiians call the "aloha spirit". She had the most outgoing
personality from a person I had ever met in my life. Not to mention she was
the "hottest" woman I had ever laid my eyes on. Well, one thing led to
another and these two opposites became attracted to each other. The rest is
history (or a story).
I will have more to say of this happy haole
couple later. Great to be apart of this club. Good luck to all ~Joe Hays,
